Dubai’s renowned tourist destination ‘Expo City’ has announced the temporary closure of two of its popular attractions, Rashid’s Garden and Garden in the Sky. The announcement was made on October 3, 2023, via a social media platform formerly known as Twitter. However, the exact date for the reopening of these attractions remains unspecified.
Expo City is currently undergoing significant modifications to accommodate international climate delegates for Cop28. These changes involve a harmonious blend of futuristic elements and traditional Emirati architectural designs, aiming to showcase the rich heritage of the region.
The Garden in the Sky, also known as the ‘flying park,’ is a revolving observation tower that lifts visitors 55 meters above ground level, offering stunning panoramic views of the city. The attraction gets its name from the lush, tree-lined upper deck.
At night, the tower’s base and the rings around the observation cabins are illuminated, giving the attraction an extraordinary, otherworldly glow.
On the other hand, Rashid’s Playground, situated within Jubilee Park, is a vibrant, ocean-themed play area designed specifically for children. It features elements like shark structures, whale-shaped slides, ocean liner features, and an engaging interactive 3D maze model.
The temporary closure of these attractions began on October 1, 2023. While the reason for the closure was not explicitly stated, it is expected that the attractions will reopen once the necessary modifications for the upcoming Cop28 event are completed.
Until then, visitors to Expo City will have to wait to experience the unique offerings of Rashid’s Garden and Garden in the Sky.
