October is globally recognized as Cancer Awareness Month, and Abu Dhabi is no exception. Various organizations across the capital are marking ‘Pinktober’ with a series of activities aimed at raising awareness about cancer and promoting early detection and screenings.
Umm Al Emarat Park has launched its ‘Pink October’ initiative. The park will be bathed in pink light throughout October, symbolizing its commitment to the cause.
The park’s market, set to open on October 20th, will also adopt the pink theme. In addition to this visual tribute, the park will host a fitness and wellness schedule emphasizing the importance of early detection.
Key events include a blood donation drive on October 19 and a Pink October Walkathon on October 20 and 21. SEHA, the health services provider, will offer free mammogram checkups at a booth opposite the park’s entrance from 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm on both days.
Food delivery service Deliveroo has partnered with Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City for a month-long initiative to promote early screening among women. Orders dispatched from Deliveroo’s cloud kitchen site in Abu Dhabi will carry a powerful message encouraging women to prioritize their health and schedule regular screenings.
The luxurious Fairmont Bab Al Bahr hotel has planned a vibrant lineup of activities for Pink October. The seaside property will glow in pink lighting and offer pink-themed room amenities in honor of those affected by cancer. The hotel’s Saturday Pink Brunch on October 14 will feature an awareness session led by a prominent doctor from the Burjeel Marina Health Promotion Centre.
Hudayriyat Island, Abu Dhabi’s premier leisure and sports hub, invites women across the UAE to participate in a packed calendar of activities marking Pink October. The fourth edition of their awareness campaign aims to spark conversations about health and encourage women to regularly evaluate their health.
Lastly, Villa Toscana at The St. Regis Abu Dhabi is offering a special dessert named ‘The Pink Pear.’ All proceeds from the sales of this chocolate hazelnut delight will go to a foundation that supports cancer awareness initiatives.
