As the long residents of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) can look forward to a significant drop in temperatures next week. According to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) marking the official end of summer and the beginning of autumn.
The change in season is set to bring cooler and fresher winds across the country, providing a much-needed respite from the intense heat of the summer months.
Over the weekend, weather conditions are predicted to be fairly cloudy, with an increase in humidity during the night. Light to moderate winds will also contribute to the cooler climate, with temperatures dropping to lows of 29ºC in Abu Dhabi on Saturday and 26ºC in Dubai on Sunday.
Despite the cooler nights, daytime highs are still expected to reach up to 42ºC.
In addition to the change in temperature, the next four days will see northeasterly winds reaching speeds of up to 40km/hr, causing blowing dust across the region.
As September marks the end of summer, it is typical for temperatures to drop. However, it is also the most humid month in the UAE, as evidenced by the lowest recorded temperature of 25.2ºC in Damtha, Al Ain on Friday, September 22.
The autumn equinox, which falls on Saturday, September 23, signifies the official start of autumn. This astronomical event occurs when the sun shines directly on the equator, resulting in equal amounts of sunlight in both the northern and southern hemispheres.
