The United Arab Emirates’ official digital healthcare platform ‘the Al Hosn app’ has recently undergone a significant update. The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) announced that the app now includes mandatory children’s vaccination information. This new feature is part of the UAE government’s ongoing commitment to leverage technology for optimal health coverage and high vaccination rates.
Previously, the Al Hosn app was used for screening visitors and residents as part of contact tracing efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic. With this update, the app will maintain comprehensive records of vaccination certificates for residents from birth to 18 years of age. This initiative aims to safeguard the health of younger members of the population and further the goals of the National Immunisation Programme.
Mandatory vaccinations for children against diseases such as tuberculosis, tetanus, pneumonia, diphtheria, and HPV are crucial in protecting them from illness and boosting their immunity. The updated vaccination records on the Al Hosn app are now a requirement for children to be allowed in schools, replacing the previously used vaccination books.
The Al Hosn app has been recognized for its instrumental role in curbing the spread of the pandemic. It was awarded the “App Of The Year 2021” in the COVID-19 Response category by the US-based Global Excellence Awards (GEA). The app, available in Arabic, English, and Hindi, continues to serve the vast majority of the UAE population.
This update is a testament to the UAE’s steadfast efforts in the healthcare domain, demonstrating how technology can be effectively used to ensure public health and safety. Users are encouraged to familiarize themselves with these new updates on the Al Hosn app.
