As the Prophet Mohammed’s (PBUH) birthday approaches, parents and students alike are already looking ahead to the next school break. To assist with holiday planning, we have compiled a complete list of school holidays for the 2023-2024 academic year in Dubai.
Dubai School Calendar
It is important to note that schools in Dubai are granted some flexibility in their calendars, provided they meet the minimum number of school days required. For schools following the Ministry of Education (MoE) curriculum, this amounts to 188 days, while international curriculum schools must complete 182 days. For precise dates, parents are advised to check individual school profiles on the Knowledge and Human Development Authority’s (KHDA) website.
Dates for Schools Starting in September
For private schools in Dubai that commence their academic year in September, the first day of the 2023-2024 academic year will be August 28. The Prophet Mohammed’s (PBUH) birthday will be observed on September 29.
Other notable dates include a half-term break from October 23 to 27, Commemoration Day on December 1, and a winter break from December 11, 2023, to January 2, 2024.
The spring break will span from March 25 to April 15, 2024, and the tentative date for Eid Al Adha is June 17 to 18. The academic year will conclude on June 28.
Dates for Schools Starting in April
For private schools that begin their academic year in April, the summer break will run from July 3 to August 28. The winter break will be from December 11 to January 2.
Schools have the flexibility to close any day between March 1 and March 31 for the end of the academic year.
The new academic year will start on April 1, followed by a summer break from July 4 to August 26 and a winter break from December 16 to January 3.
Upcoming Public Holidays
Following the Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) birthday, UAE residents can look forward to another long weekend at the beginning of December. Commemoration Day, previously known as Martyrs’ Day, is annually observed on December 1.
Immediately after, the UAE celebrates National Day on December 2 and 3. This could potentially result in a three-day weekend for the final long weekend of the year. However, official confirmation from UAE authorities is awaited.
As we navigate through the academic year, it’s important to stay updated with the official announcements regarding school holidays and public holidays. Happy planning!
